That's who I've been hanging out with for the last little while.
Well, not irl (that's "in real life", not "Indy Racing League". If it were Indy Racing League, I probably would have capitalized it...). But in the NDISB forum. There were a bunch of people on line at the same time, which is somewhat unusual for us, as we are still a small (but growing) community. And it was actually very entertaining. For a while, we were using one of the forums as a virtual chat room, with posts and responses being flung about with abandon. And another forum is a "say the first word that comes to your mind" response thread, and it was getting... interesting. Yeah... that's it... interesting.
One of the things that I truly enjoy about Theresa's business is that it brings together individuals that would otherwise never have met, and provides outlets in varying ways. Some creative types design works of art (designers). Other creative types design works of art using those products (creative team members). Customers and community members (forum members) just check in periodically to see what's going on. And we always seem to have some kind of threads going on in the forums just for fun. And naturally, those are always the ones that seem to get the most attention.
But one of the things that I find most amazing is that, though I've never met most of these women in real life, I know that I would feel comfortable with them the first time we meet. We've learned about each other, sometimes in ways that you would never imagine, and have learned that we can count on each other not only for friendship, but support. I have seen it happen time and again where our community members have helped each other, in small ways, and sometimes in large.
And these women live, literally, all over the world. We've just completed a six week long challenge/game based on "The Amazing Race" television show. A recurring theme that I saw at its conclusion (we had almost 200 two person teams enter the "race"), was that many of the team members who didn't even know their partner prior to the race, in six weeks had established a continuing relationship with their partner.
NDISB (and crazy women) helping the world get smaller. A couple of people at a time.
