Get your head out of your...

I was driving home last night from the airport. Generally, when I drive home I am somewhat exceeding the speed limit, though not excessively so. Such was the case last evening.

Having transitioned from Interstate 8 to CA-163, I was settled into the number three lane when a car in the number four lane turned on their left turn signal. I suppose different drivers have different ideas about what this means.

To some, it means that they will be moving left when traffic allows.

To others it means that they are moving left immediately.

Apparently this particular driver thought that it meant that she could then move into the number three lane, regardless of the fact that another driver was about to occupy that space, because that is exactly what she did. The fact that I was in the number three lane right behind her and moving probably 15 miles per hour faster than her seemed somehow irrelevant, I would imagine. Also, the fact that there was no one in front of her which necessitated the move at that particular moment, seemed of no particular import. She wanted to be right where I was about to be in a fraction of a second.

I chose not to run into her. I wanted to. But I chose not to.

"Hey lady. Get your head out of your ...!"
